Vaclavske namesti

Vaclavske namesti (Wenceslas Square) is one of the main city squares and the centre of the business and cultural communities in the New Town of Prague, Czech Republic.  Many historical events occurred there, and it is a traditional setting for demonstrations, celebrations, and other public gatherings.  The square is named after Saint Wenceslas, the patron saint of Bohemia.  It is part of the historic centre of Prague, a World Heritage Site.
Formerly known as Konsky trh (English: Horse Market), for its periodic accommodation of horse markets during the Middle Ages, it was renamed Svatovaclavske namesti (English: Saint Wenceslas square) in 1848 on the proposal of Karel Havlicek Borovsky.  (Referred to the site of "Wikipedia")

Prazsky orloj

Prazsky orloj (the Prague Astronomical Clock or Prague Orloj) is a medieval astronomical clock located in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic.  Orloj is mounted on the southern wall of Old Town City Hall in the Old Town Square and is a popular tourist attraction.  The Orloj is composed of three main components: the astronomical dial, representing the position of the Sun and Moon in the sky and displaying various astronomical details; "The Walk of the Apostles," a clockwork hourly show of figures of the Apostles and other moving sculptures; and a calendar dial with medallions representing the months.  (Referred to the site of "Wikipedia")

Staromestske namesti

Staromestske namesti (Old Town Square Prague) is a historic square in the Old Town quarter of Prague in the Czech Republic.  Located between Wenceslas Square and the Charles Bridge,  Prague's Old Town Square is often bursting at the seams with tourists in the summer.  Featuring various architectural styles including the gothic Tyn Cathedral and baroque St. Nicholas Church, the square is an oasis for travelers wearied by Prague's narrow streets.  Among many churches, tourists may find the Astronomical Clock on this square, while the tower at the Old Town Hall offers a panoramic view of Old Town.
The square's center is home to a statue of religious reformer Jan Hus, who for his beliefs was burned at the stake in Constance.  The statue known as the Jan Hus Memorial was erected on July 6, 1915 to mark the 500th anniversary of his death.
Not only a popular meeting place, Old Town Square sees its share of celebrations (New Year's), holiday markets (Christmas and Easter), and protests.  On occasion, ice-hockey and football (soccer) games are shown on huge screens, drawing large crowds of fans.  (Referred to the site of "Wikipedia")

(Sunday 13 June) A Trdelnik stand at "Hyundai Fan Park Praha," Staromestske namesti (Old Town Square Prague)

Trdelnik is a traditional cake and sweet pastry, from the Slovak town of Skalica.  It is made from rolled dough, wrapped around a stick then grilled and topped with sugar and walnut mix.
Its production has a long tradition in Skalica. Earl Jozsef Gvadanyi, a Hungarian general in retirement who was also a poet and philosopher, settled down in Skalica at the end of the 18th century.  He employed a cook from Transylvania and he brought a recipe for "trdelnik" and improved recipe into final pastry known nowadays as Skalicky trdelnik.  The Hungarian name of the original cake is Kurtoskalacs.
The civil association Skalicky trdelnik was founded at the end of 2004 and its goal is keeping the tradition of the original open fire Trdelnik production.  Name of the cake Trdelnik is coming from trdlo which is the wooden stake the cake is wrapped around for cooking, and which gives it its traditional hollow shape.  Nowadays is trdelnik gaining popularity as a sweet pastry in Slovakia and Czech republic and is very popular among foreign tourists.  (Referred to the site of "Wikipedia")

Prasna brana

Prasna brana (Powder Gate or Powder Tower) is a a 65 metres high late Gothic tower on the edge of Stare Mesto (Old Town) on Namestí republiky, right next to the Obecni dum (Municipal House).  It is one of the symbols of Prague, leading into the Old Town.  Dating from 1475, the Powder Gate was built as one of 13 gates to the city of Prague.  At the time construction began, it was connected (via the small bridge at the right of the photo) to the royal palace.  Before construction was completed, however, King Vladislav Jagellonsky moved his residence to Prague Castle in 1485.  However, the Powder Gate remained important to the Bohemian kings - from that time until 1836, the Bohemian monarchs would pass through the Powder Gate on their way to St. Vitus Cathedral to be crowned.
As the city grew beyond its old walls, however, the Powder Gate grew less and less important (except on those rare occasions when a monarch was being crowned).  By the seventeenth century, it was being used as a gunpowder storage facility - it was at this time that it developed its name.  Unfortunately, the Gate was severely damaged in 1757 when Prague was occupied by the Prussians.  But, the Gate was eventually restored to its former glory in the 1870s and 1880s.
The Powder Gate was designed by master builder Matej Rejsek to follow the design used by Peter Parler for the Old Town Bridge Tower at the base of Charles Bridge.  It is now one of the few remnants of the fortifications that once surrounded the city.  (Referred to the site of "Wikipedia")

Karluv most

Karluv most (the Charles Bridge) is a famous historical bridge that crosses the Vltava river in Prague, Czech Republic.  Its construction started in 1357 under the auspices of King Charles IV, and finished in the beginning of the fifteenth century.  As the only means of crossing the river Vltava (Moldau), the Charles Bridge was the most important connection between the Old Town, Prague Castle and adjacent areas until 1841.  This "solid-land" connection made Prague important as a trade route between Eastern and Western Europe.  The bridge was originally called the Stone Bridge (Kamenny most) or the Prague Bridge (Prazsky most) but has been the "Charles Bridge" since 1870.
The bridge is 516 meters long and nearly 10 meters wide, resting on 16 arches shielded by ice guards.  It is protected by three bridge towers, two of them on the Lesser Quarter side and the third one on the Old Town side.  The Old Town bridge tower is often considered to be one of the most astonishing civil gothic-style buildings in the world.  The bridge is decorated by a continuous alley of 30 statues and statuaries, most of them baroque-style, erected around 1700.  During the night the Charles Bridge is a quiet place.  But during the day it changes its face into a very busy place, with painters, owners of kiosks and other traders alongside numerous tourists crossing the bridge.  (Referred to the site of "Wikipedia")

Johannes Kepler's House

The famous German mathematician and astronomer Johannes Kepler (1571-1630) stayed in Prague for twelve years (1600-1612).  Kepler's years in Prague were the most fruitful period of his life.  It was here in Prague that he observed a supernova in 1604, the hexagonal structure of snowflakes in 1611, and much more.   This old house, located at 4 Karlova Street, Old Town, was his last residence of the city: He went across Karluv most to the castle for five years.  Now it is open to the public as the museum dedicated to Kepler.
